Wordless Wednesday

Update on our 'talking toddler'

Well, David has been very slow to talk, which worried this over-talkative mother! :)

We had him evaluated at 18months by Early Intervention and were told that he was right on track developmentally and that he would eventually talk when he was ready. Whew, a relief!

So, when we went to the beach, the first week of July, he finally started saying "Ma" and "MaMa" and it did my heart good!!!

He's been pretty good at sign language these past few months also, signing 'more,' 'thank you,' 'please' and a few more signs.

So just last week, he's exploded with the 'B' words. His first word, other than 'mama' and 'da' is 'baby.' He also just recently learned the sign and says and signs 'baby.' It's so cute!! Think he wants one? I think I do! :) Also, his first animal noise was 'Ooo, ooo, ooo' for a monkey.

So, we moved from 'baby' to 'bye' and 'boo.' Just yesterday, he pointed to a bruise on his leg and said, 'boo' kind of sad-like. So, I'm thinking he means 'boo-boo.' Adorable!! He's also saying his versions of 'bath' and 'ball.' Another new one is 'mo' which means more, which was the first sign he learned.

Today, he is trying to say 'bird' and is flapping his arms and saying 'tweet.' It's just amazing how it's all spilling out!

It's really getting to be fun around here, trying to determine what he's telling us and we're so happy that the words are finally coming!!

Pawley's Island Fourth of July vacation

We had a wonderful vacation for a week at Pawleys Island during the 4th of July holiday! We went with my brother's family and stayed at my aunt and uncle's. Lauren was 'Little Miss Ladybug' in the annual Pawleys Island Parade, we visited Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park and Zoo, we ate WAY too much, David got to play in the sand and wasn't afraid this year, and we enjoyed some relaxing family time with my Aunt Mary and Uncle Jeff ! Thank you guys for having us!!! Also, thanks Aunt Holley for taking our beach pictures, we love them!

June 2009

David just loves giving kisses! He's such a sweet boy! Here are some kissing Cousin La-La and Aunt Holley! We've had fun this summer at the lake, at the Matthews' pool and just spending time together!

Murphy, the Father's Day addition

On Father's Day, we happened to visit a pet store, one of Steve's favorite pasttimes, looking for aquarium stuff and saltwater fish. I fell in love with some kittens and even promised to clean out the litter box FOREVER if we could get a kitten for David to 'grow up with.' Well, we already have 2 adult cats and recently lost sweet Claudia, who was originally Cheryl's cat that we adopted in her later life. So, instead of getting one at the pet store, I checked craigslist when we got home, and in 30 mins we were driving out west to pick up a 8 week old black boy kitten. June Jam Session in Jammies

So there are a few cabinets in the kitchen that we haven't 'baby-proofed' and one has mixing bowls in it. David loves this and pretends to cook with a bowl sometimes and we give him a wooden spoon and he has a ball! Well, here's what I discovered one morning in June:

We went to Dollywood with the Matthews and had a great time! We rode the train, the carousel, ate yummy food and David even rode the Duckies and Piggies by himself! Enjoy the pics!
